MY Story
To Begin at the Beginning
"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent" ~ Victor Hugo
Synesthesia is a phenomenon in brain where two separate sensations are experienced at the same time due to "wires" in the brain becoming crossed. For example, when I hear music I see colors. This is specific sub-section called chromesthesia. Synesthesia can become developed in two major ways. Either someone is born with it or it can be developed later in life due to trauma in brain activity.
I was born with it.
I didn't even know I had it. It was never something I realized until I learned about it in my 20th music history class my junior year. We were learning about French composer Messiaen, who used his chromesthesia to compose amazingly intricate symphonies. I became inspired to then show the world how beautiful synesthesia/chomesthesia is.
In 2016, I focused my senior project on this and I was determined to start a gallery depicting different types music. I made This is (not) a Piano, Pocket Piano by KiNK and Invention N0.4 in D Minor by Bach (all of which are available to buy as prints). This was not enough to start a gallery, so I started taking requests on what songs people would want to see and I began to make sketches in order to get everyone's requests out as soon as I could. Everyone involved was really excited, so I decided to make it an actual business a year later.
Today, you can buy an existing song, request any type of music/sound, or buy something from my personal gallery. If you are looking for a specific type of medium, I offer both paintings and drawings ranging from acrylic paints to pastels and watercolor pencils.
Disclaimer: if you do not specify in your order, I will by default use pastels even though other options are available.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and visiting my store!
